I founded the Gay Therapy Center in 2015 because I knew from my own experience that it can be especially healing and powerful to work with a therapist who shares part of your own LGBTQ identity.
Shame is a near universal experience for LGBTQ people. Working with a LGBTQ therapist is a profound way to heal from shame.
I also know how hard it is to find a therapist with whom you “click.”
Just reading online profiles doesn’t give you enough information. An algorithm will never be able to decide if you will connect with your therapist. That’s why we talk to you on the phone to get to know you before matching you with one of our therapists.
The Gay Therapy Center grew out of my private practice where I have always been focused on the needs of the LGBTQ community.

We’ve become the largest private provider of LGBTQ-affirmative therapy with offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC, and worldwide via video conferencing.
While we work with all kind of people, the focus of our work, our blogs and videos, and our charitable giving is the LGBTQ community.
We’re proud of our great reviews and the largest collection of original articles about LGBTQ mental health. I hope you’ll spend some time on our site to get a feel for our LGBTQ-affirmative work. And when you are ready, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
Take care,
Adam D. Blum, MFT Founder and Director
