As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Life Coach, I am dedicated to motivating and empowering you toward living a fulfilling life. Whether it is learning new coping skills, improving communication in relationships, or struggling with your identify, my goal is to guide you toward true internal refuge by offering the necessary tools to create and harmonize the life you want.
My therapeutic approach is active, non-judgmental and collaborative. I believe in a whole-person approach, utilizing evidence-based practices to enrich my clients. Whether I am working with individuals or couples, I guide my sessions through a growth mindset and in building awareness around emotions, repeating negative cycles, unhealthy communication skills and its impact on behavior. I draw from my clients strengths and place focus on the mind-body-spirit connection.
I am passionate about integrative wellness and helping others find healing and wholeness in their relationships and lives. I commonly work with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, career transitions, low self-esteem, issues with intimacy, negative relationship patterns, sexuality, gender identity, grief and loss.
Prior to my career as a therapist, I worked in human resources. My experience ranged from hiring and training to change management and succession planning. I bring a well-rounded perspective to therapy that allows me to build deeper understanding to the many challenges we all experience with transitions.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my partner, our three dogs, friends and family. I love photography and being creative. I also enjoy cycling, tennis, hiking, skiing, and soccer. Anything outdoors!
I believe the greatest journey we will ever take is the journey within. It takes courage to take that initial step. Whether you are looking for support or guidance through a particular difficult time or are seeking to make a change in your life, together, we can work to meet your desired goals and achieve your dreams.
What advice would you give to someone hesitant about starting therapy?
Finding a therapist is like online dating. Keep swiping until you find someone that “speaks to you”. It may take a few swipes, but the benefits are totally worth the effort!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of therapy for you, as a therapist?
It’s watching my clients grow internally. Seeing them become more self-aware and making choices that align with their true self is like watching fireworks on the 4th of July. It’s beautiful to experience and feels magical at the same time.
In your opinion, what’s the most crucial aspect of a successful therapeutic relationship?
Creating a safe space, hands down. Opening up doesn’t feel comfortable without it, which defeats the point of therapy.
How can you get started with being kinder to yourself?
Say 3 things you like about yourself every morning when you look at yourself in the mirror.
What’s one thing you wish more people understood about the importance of mental health maintenance?
Build a relationship with your body. Its shares more information to the brain, then the brain to the body!
Share a self-reflection prompt to spark meaningful introspection.
A way to differentiate fear-based emotions from heart-based emotions is to become aware of your internal self-talk. Fear-based emotions takes you down rabbit holes, heart-base emotions just tells you like it is.
Share a quote or mantra that helps you through tough times.
This too shall pass.
How do you handle moments of self-doubt or insecurity?
I acknowledge my current feelings and what is triggering them. I then remind myself of my values and worth, along with my big and small wins. I also listen to Jennifer Lopez’s new album This is Me…Now. Soooo good!
