Sometimes we feel anxious, depressed, ashamed, disappointed, or just plain numb because we think we should be better, faster, bigger, or simply not have these feelings at all.

As a therapist, I encourage my clients to explore their full range of emotions, without judgment or criticism. The feelings are there for a reason, and working together our job is to explore, understand and validate them.

If your coping mechanisms that worked previously are no longer working for you, I can help you find new ways to thrive that are authentically you. The solutions my clients seek are often found within, and I help them find them with insight, gentle nudging or sometimes with stronger, more direct interventions.

After a 30-year career in high tech I pivoted, earned my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, and became a full-time licensed psychotherapist.

I have worked extensively with the LGBTQ community in the San Francisco Unified School District, Golden Gate University, and at SF Therapy Collective. I’ve staffed the crisis hotline at the Pacific Center for Human Growth in Berkeley, and volunteered as an emotional support peer at Shanti Project.

I have years of experience working with clients including couples, immigrants, teenagers, adults, seniors, adult children of alcoholics, transgender and gender non-conforming clients, as well as with issues of adoption, coming out, early life trauma, parenting, and intimate (open) relationships.

My work is informed by my life experiences, education, 23-year relationship, and being a father. My civil rights activism for equality led me and my husband to be co-plaintiffs in the state of California’s lawsuit, which successfully preserved the same-sex marriages that took place from June to November 2008, prior to the passing of Proposition 8.

It is my privilege and honor to work with our amazing community.
