What is most important in therapy is that you feel deeply supported and understood. Finding a therapist who shares your LGBTQ+ identity is one less obstacle to being understood.

Being authentic used to be hard for me because I feared rejection of my true self and found it easier to hide behind a persona. Through my own journey of self-discovery (with the help of talented therapists along the way), I came to know and love my true self and share the real me with both my partner of 28 years and the world. Now, as a therapist I use my real self in relationship with my clients to help them on their journey.

I work with the LGBTQ+ community on issues relating to identity, coming out, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, stress, relationships, self-esteem and I am particularly focused on helping male survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and interactive, where you and I work together to reach your goals in a safe and supportive environment.  Together we can find new ways to face your past and present, to uncover your strengths and resources and make changes that leave you feeling more balanced, happy, and authentic.  My style is warm and inquisitive, and I seek to create therapeutic relationships that are attuned to each client.

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from Sonoma State as well as my BA in Psychology with department distinction and cum laude honors.  I received my clinical training at The Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic where I learned to blend both traditional and mindfulness-based somatic approaches to psychotherapy that bring focus to the whole person. Additionally, I trained at Verity (formerly United Against Sexual Assault), known in Sonoma County as “the place” to send sexual assault survivors for their healing work, thus providing me a unique level of expertise.
