The familiar ways you have of dealing with life's complications may not be working for you—that happens to a lot of us. Together, you and I can work to create positive change. I believe in taking a strength-based approach to psychotherapy, working with you to help you grow towards your best self.

I help individuals seeking relief from anxiety, depression, or trauma, and I work with couples and other relationships in whatever forms they take.
I have been trained in several approaches to psychotherapy. No two people are alike and working collaboratively with clients I customize therapy that works for each person. The methods I use most regularly are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. With relationships, my work is based on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

As a gay man, I have many years of experience with LGBTQ issues, and I continue my work as a gender specialist as part of the UCSF Alliance Health Project's Gender Team providing services for trans, genderqueer, non-binary, and gender non-conforming clients.

My parents, both civil rights attorneys, raised me with a strong sense of social justice. For decades I have volunteered at a wide range of non- profits providing services to people with AIDS and HIV, and I have a passion for the work.

I’ve served on the Boards of Directors of the UCLA Gay & Lesbian Association, the ACLU of Southern California Lesbian & Gay Rights Chapter, Under One Roof, and Gaylesta (the Psychotherapist Association for Gender and Sexual Diversity).

Through my work I get the pleasure of seeing people understand how beautiful and imperfect each of us is, and how wonderful it is to feel connected.
