Overcoming Gay Low Self Esteem

Every LGBT person needs to put work into loving themselves. 

All of us have been raised in a culture that wrongly assumes that being straight is better than being gay. 

The impact of growing up and living in a family and a world that marginalizes gay people is profound. Many of us were flooded with shame at a young age when we were not equipped to deal with it.

The concept of loving yourself has lost its power to inspire us because it was overused in cheesy popular media.  We are in an ironic time and loving yourself sounds sappy, and very 1980s. Read more ›
